Late-stage cancer patient Christian Nayet was being driven to hospital for a regular scan. After an hour on the road, his ambulance driver complained of feeling pins and needles in his fingers. Nayet realized the driver was having a heart attack.
例：He complained of chest pain.他说自己胸口疼。
2.pins and needles表示“酸痛发麻”，像针刺一样。
The sixty-year-old Frenchman immediately ordered the driver, “Give me your keys. Trust me! My life isn’t in danger, but yours is.” Then he took the wheel and drove mad fast at breakneck speed to a hospital nearby.
1.take the wheel意为“开车”，wheel指“方向盘”。
例：My brother took the wheel as we headed for Beijing.我们去北京时，是我哥哥开的车。
2.at breakneck speed意为“以危险的高速(行驶)”，breakneck不是脖子断了，而是表示“飞速惊险的”。
Upon arriving at the hospital, Nayet delivered the driver directly into the emergency room. The driver went under the knife within 10 minutes. A doctor said that without Nayet’s help, the driver “could have died”. Nayet was then taken to another hospital for his scheduled tests.
2.go under the knife动手术
But Nayet just shrugged the media hype describing him as courageous. He said, “I made a human gesture, without thinking, not a gesture of courage.”
